Our Story
Abundant began as a love for baking all things sourdough, and quickly - and I mean very quickly - turned into a business.
A little backstory: I started sourdough years ago, and it helped me heal through a lot. Working with my hands and embracing the slow pace gave me a quiet place with the Lord. One day I went to tend to my sourdough starter and realized I had let it die, and never got around to making another one. Then one day my husband came home from a work Christmas party and the gift he got was a starter and bread box. I just knew God was bringing that back to me and telling me I wasn’t done yet.
One day I made cinnamon buns, but knew there could be a way to make it better. I made them with my best friend one day at her house and invited her family to eat them with us. Everyone, including myself, was taken by these cinnamon buns. So I made them again the next day and took them over to my in-laws house. I was happily surprised to receive the same reaction. My mother-in-law even said I should turn them into a business.
I took that idea straight to God whenever I got home that night. It was like a duh moment. As if He said “Well yeah I brought this back to you for a reason.”
And here I am, a year after being gifted the starter and a month after the conversation with my mother-in-law, sharing my love for sourdough and the Lord through abundant, one handcrafted cinnamon bun at a time.
